Information on the release of my debut Novella Unclaimed Outpost

Unclaimed Outpost Release

It’s been a long and somewhat muddled journey to reach the point of publishing my first Sci-Fi novel. I began working on the Taten Chronicles over a year ago thinking that series would be my first release, but then put it to one side believing it would work better as a serialised release to begin with. (Of which I've now also written a prequel for)

Then, I turned my attention to a standalone novel called 2922 Days. I’m about a third of the way through writing that and it’s still a book I intend to publish this year, but I felt it wasn’t quite right for my first book. The scope of it was a little too much. I wanted a simpler book for my first release. Something maybe a little more personal, but which still showed the things I enjoy about Science Fiction. A book with world building, but not to the insane lengths of the Taten Chronicles. Something that showed a futuristic humanity, but not in the way 2922 Days does. That book became Unclaimed Outpost.

I started writing Unclaimed Outpost around September with a February release date in mind, and I’m pleased to say that I've made that release date. The novella is now fully edited, formatted, and ready to be put out into the world. My first published Sci-Fi book, and my first book in general for a long while. A new beginning, and in a genre I adore.

Synopsis and Cover

The synopsis for Unclaimed Outpost is as follows:

A year alone in the darkness of space can do strange things to a man, especially when he’s questioning himself to begin with. All Max had wanted was a job away from Earth, no matter how insignificant or menial, just some kind of purpose to his pathetic existence. He briefly found it on the Outpost, but it was taken away all too quickly.

Now, after a year of isolation, completely cut off from humanity, with only a needy computer for company and a giant asteroid heading in his direction, Max must question whether he has any kind of future, much less a happy one…

Set on the edge of the asteroid belt, Unclaimed Outpost is a story of loneliness, unfolding just as humanity comes together to claim the Solar System.

Availability

Unclaimed Outpost will be released on 22nd February both in Digital and Paperback format, with the possibility of an audiobook later in the year. The digital release is currently available for Pre-Order. Here are the UK | USA Links, and for elsewhere in the world search Unclaimed Outpost on Amazon.

I’m really excited to be putting this book out. I see Unclaimed Outpost as the true beginnings of my journey as a Sci-Fi author. It’s my favourite genre, and one I should have started working in a longtime ago (I will make up for lost time) Once this book is out there, there’s no turning back. I intend to dedicate the next twenty plus years of my creativity to Sci-Fi. However the book is received, I'm proud of the work and effort I put into it. This really will be the beginning of something for me.

I look forward to seeing what you all think, and I've already made big inroads on my next book which I'll talk about in more detail on my next Author Notes Post.

For now, thank you in advance to anyone who buys a copy of Unclaimed Outpost. Your support means the world to me, and will help finance future work from Lambency Belt.
