A Quick Update

Website:

So i’ve been a little quiet on here of late and thought I’d just give a quick update.

I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to use the site while i’m writing away in the background. What i’ve come up with over the last few weeks is changing the reviews i’ve made to single reviews, and giving them their own page. So, i’ve now created a review section for all the sci-fi movies and books I watch and read.

At the moment it just contains the films i’ve already reviewed, but there’s a bunch more on the way soon, along with a couple of book reviews once I write them. Spoiler… everyone should read Leigh Brackett’s The Long Tomorrow.

The longterm idea with the review page is to build up a large database of quick reviews for everything i’ve rewatched and read. Hopefully it will be useful to fans of the genre, while also being research for my various projects. I recently wrote a sci-fi sports story hence the Arena and Rollerball rewatches––that kind of thing.

Writing:

Writing wise i’m towards the end of the second book in the series i’m working on. The plan is now to release the first book in June, and have the second and third both out a few months after. I’m really pleased with how it’s going at the moment and looking forward to getting them out there. The books won’t be for everyone, but i’m definitely enjoying working on them and hope they’ll find a readership. (More info to come once the first one is fully ready)

I’m also working on several other sci-fi book ideas with the intention of maybe sneaking out another book at the back end of the year unrelated to the other three. I’m not going to put any pressure on myself to do so, but if it happens, i’ll be very pleased. Either way, i’ll be working on the idea plenty.

What’s Next:

Now that i’m a little more sorted the idea is to put out weekly reviews while I write, and be a lot more active on this website. I may do more with Instagram as well, but at the moment i’m undecided as to whether I want to commit to any social media or not. In truth, I kind of loath the format, so it’s whether I can find a way to use it that doesn’t make me want to scream!

As mentioned, I’m just finishing up the second book and will be starting the third within the next week or so. It’s already all outlined so hopefully won’t take too long, but I tend to do quite a few drafts so we’ll see.

There’s other plans for things too, but I want to concentrate on the writing and having this website in some kind of working and productive order this year. As long as I can keep myself motivated, i’m excited for the future.
